Who This Class Is For:

This course is designed for people who have sewing experience and would like to revisit, strengthen, and refine the skills they have already learned. The focus is on building confidence, improving technique, and achieving a more professional finish in sewing projects.

While practice is essential for developing sewing skills, understanding why and when to use particular techniques is equally valuable. By applying these methods with greater intention, participants will develop more control, consistency, and confidence in their work.

What to Expect

This course is not intended for beginners. Participants should already be confident using a sewing machine and have a basic understanding of garment construction.

Across six weeks, the course will revisit essential sewing techniques and consolidate existing knowledge. Participants will create a set of practical samples to keep in a reference folder, supported by written instructions for future use.

*It is not essential to have taken part in our previous classes, but some knowledge is required. This course is designed to suit people who have already mastered threading their machine, loading a bobbin and can sew a seam using straight stitch and reverse. We will not be teaching you how to use your machine in this course – if you need a refresher or are a complete novice please try our Ab-SEW-lute Beginners classes or our Get to Know your Sewing Machine. If you have some experience and want to join a class to sew sociably you are more than welcome to try this class.

The class is held in Studio 7, The Stables at Coda Music & Arts Centre. The studio is very accessible with easy level access to the large carpark.  Here is a link to their website

Ideally, you will bring your own machine, but if you do not have one, we can loan one to you for the session. You will need to notify us prior to the sessions.

The fabric and haberdashery for the items and a paper pattern to fit you, are all included in the price.
