Join Mrs Bee for a summer of sewing, with weekly classes designed to help you develop your skills through practical, enjoyable projects. These classes take place in Studio 7 at Coda Music & Arts Trust on the edge of the New Forest.
Class Times
Classes will run every Tuesday for four weeks over the summer.
- Evening sessions: 6pm-8.30pm
What to Bring
Please bring your own sewing machine. If you don’t have one, let me know in advance and I can lend you one for the session.
Sewing kit (tape measure, pins, snips, fabric scissors, bobbins)
Newcomers are welcome, but you should already know how to use a sewing machine.
Planned Projects
Each week, you’ll work on a project designed to build your confidence and expand your sewing skills. The planned projects include:
- A small, practical crossbody bag with a zip pocket
- A boxed zip-up washbag with waterproof lining
- The shirring elastic dress, back by popular demand
If you made the shirring elastic dress last year, you can adapt the project into a skirt or challenge yourself by working with a different fabric.
The fourth project is still to be confirmed. Some projects may take more than one week, but if we stay on track, I’ll add another project to the programme.
All items subject to change
Abilities
These mixed-ability classes are designed to be welcoming and supportive, so there’s no need to worry about your skill level. If you can thread your sewing machine, you’ll be ready to join in. The classes are a great opportunity to learn new skills, improve your technique, and meet like-minded people.
Materials
All materials are included in the class fee.
Dates
You can book all four or if you wish individual classes.

Coda is at the opposite end of Chewton Farm Road to the Chewton Glen Hotel. When you turn into the property drive past the meadow on the left and around the building and black barn on the right. This will gain you access to the main carpark in the centre courtyard of the building. The entrance to Studio 7 is at the end of the Stables nearest the black barn (near where you have just driven in). If you are unsure, please visit the Bramble Hill café – in the right-hand corner of the car park, and they will be able to assist you.
